NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 2003 (DR) 4WD RAM TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRIC SHIFT-ON-THE-FLY TRANSFER CASE (SALES CODES DH3 OR DH5) BUILT BEFORE NOVEMBER 1, 2002.
Discussion:
NOTE: THE DRBIII MUST BE AT LEVEL 55.1 (CD 2116) OR HIGHER AND THE MDS2 OPERATING AT CD2116 OR HIGHER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. CD 2116 WILL ARRIVE AT THE DEALERS SEPT. 16, 2002. TECHNICIAN SHOULD UPDATE THE DRBIII IMMEDIATELY UPON RECEIPT OF THIS RELEASE.
During a module scan or check for DTCs in the TCCM, if the DRBIII is at level 55.0 or lower, the technician may see the DRBIII display erroneous stored DTCS. If any or all of the following stored DTC's are present in the TCCM, technician should disregard them.
Missing Brake Input
Missing Ignition Message
Missing Lamp Dimming Message
Missing Transmission Input
Missing Speed Input
Missing Engine RPM Input
NOTE: ANY ACTIVE DTC'S ARE STILL VALID FAULTS AND SHOULD BE DIAGNOSED AS OUTLINED IN THE 2003 (DR) RAM TRUCK TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES MANUAL (Publication No. 81-370--03021).
