Visited dealership(11/26/07) with the intent of purchasing a new vehicle (2007 Dodge Nitro). I was not taken serious, however I was shown several vehicles. I was asked how I would finance the vehicle, I stated I would be paying cash, the dealerships interest was diminished immediately. I went on to pick a vehicle and stated that I would purchase such at the price quoted on Saturday (12/1/07).
On 11/28/07 I was contacted by the dealership (sales person Daniel) wanting to know if I would come in and pickup the vehicle on Friday (11/30/07), the owner would like to get the vehicle on his monthly close out for November. I stated that I could not comply with his wishes as it would cause me a hardship and would pick up the vehicle as I had previously agreed to.
On Saturday (12/01/07) I called at approximately 1:00 p.m. and I asked if it was okay to pickup the vehicle, the owner stated that the vehicle was not ready for delivery. There was no state inspection sticker and it had not been detailed. He further stated that the inspection station and detail shop
had closed at 12:00 p.m. He stated that I could pick up the vehicle on Monday (12/03/07)
On Monday (12/03/07) I called the dealership again to ensure that the vehicle was ready for pick up, as it is a 60 mile round trip journey. Daniel informed me that the vehicle was ready and I proceeded to pick it up. Upon my arrival at the dealership I was asked again how was I going to finance the vehicle, I gave the same reply cash. I presented a bonus coupon for $500.00, mailed to me from Chrysler/Dodge. I was told that I could not use the bonus coupon if I did not finance the vehicle with Chrysler. It was implied that I should finance the vehicle with Chrysler and pay it off in one month. That way I could redeem the coupon value. I stated that I would go ahead and pay cash. I paid cash ($22,968.69) home, never to return again.
It is my opinion that this all occurred as a result of something that I have no control of (My ethnicity, black). I was treated as if I was just window shopping, executing wishful thinking and couldn't buy a spare tire let alone a car. I resent such treatment and surprise that it still exist in 2007.
It is possible that I will Chrysler again, I doubt that I could be persuaded to use that particular dealership again.
I will in the future take my business where it is appreciated, and will be choosing dealerships more carefully.

The at this dealership are different, they care about their customers and treat them like family. We shopped everywhere, then one Saturday we stopped and met a young lady by the name of Jennifer, she was so nice and she has taken care or us every since. I wish all dealers had people like her!!
