Sales=Excellent, Service=Poor, Parts=Excellent, bought there=Yes, scv_there=Yes, Buy_DaimlerChrysler_again=No,
I purchased a 2005 Dodge Dakota Quad cab V8 vehicle from the Bayside dealership. The internet and sales dept were great. My salesman was comfortable to be around. The finance guy really pushed the "smart lease" option which initially annoyed me. I did purchase this option. The car was promised on a Monday when I was to bring the final down payment check ($15,000 dwn). Only after they took the check did they inform me that the truck would not be ready until the next day! I had ordered extra parts (Class III tow pkg, side step, Uconnect). The new car service person, Claude, was wonderful. He was extremely helpful with other add-ons (retractable bed cover and bed extender). After the initial 600 miles I took the car to the Dealership service dept because my radio was not working. They took out my radio because they do not repair radios. I drove around for two weeks without a radio. When they got another radio and installed it, it still had the same problem. THEN they ran a diagnostic test which showed the amplifier was the problem! What prevented them from running the diagnostic the first time??? I was told I would receive a post card when the new part came in. Two months later I had still not received the postcard. I received a call from the Dodge survey customer service dept. AFter loudly complaining I received a call the next day from the service person. He explained the part was on back order and he would call be in stock the coming Friday (3 days away). He stated he would call me. Ten days later I called the service dept. Because I did not know the name of my service person I was told I could not be helped!!! After requesting the supervisor I found out my service person is named Nat. Nat informed me the part was in fact in stock. He forgot to call me as he promised! The car was bought in for servicing on Friday 12/2/05 for installing new amplifier, seatbelt indicator and chimes constantly reading unbuckled, left pulling steering, and an oil change. Nat stated the car would not "stay local" and he would call me when it was completed. I called Nat at 2PM and he stated the car was in the process of being repaired and he would call me upon completion. He did not call me on Friday. I called the service dept on Sat 12/3/05 and heard message stating someone would get back to me in an hour. No call on Sat. I called Nat on Monday 12/5/05. Nat stated the car was indeed completed on Fri but needed to be "put back together". It was put together on Sat. Nat stated he just forgot to call me. Nat also apologized for not calling me on Monday 12/5/05.
When I went to p/u the vehicle Nat was on the phone with a customer. He told me to give him a minute. He finished the phone call, told me to again wait, and then called another customer and told the customer their vehicle was ready and to come and pick it up! I paid for the oil change and Nat gave me my receipt stating everything was done and the vehicle was working fine. As I began to drive off the seatbelt indicator and alarm began ringing! I took the vehicle back and told Nat that the seatbelt indicators were still broken. Nat stated he forgot to tell me they did not fix it because it needs a part and they would call me when the part arrived! Well, we know how it works for me when I wait for Nat to call me. Nat and the service dept at Bayside Chrysler apparently do not place my purchase of a $40,000 vehicle from their dealership as a reason for fast, honest, reliable service of said vehicle. Nat's apologies did not seem genuine. He merely said the words. Obviously, my complaints to the survey dept led him to further demonstrate lack of respect for my service. I originally had reservations about purchasing a vehicle from the Bayside dealership due to the demographics of the population (white) as I am an African-American. However, the sales dept was excellent and I felt very good about my purchase. The service dept, especially Nat has led me to believe that something was the base of his total lack of respect, productivity and courtesy towards me. I will never have my car serviced at Bayside again if within my power. I will never again purchase any parts from Bayside. And, I will tell any and every person to steer clear of Bayside Daimler Chrysler for anything pertaining to a vehicle! Oh, my 6-CD player is not working. It was working prior to Nat and his people "fixing" the amplifier! I am sure Nat and his band of merry men took revenge for my poor ratings of the service dept to the survey dept. $40,000 and STILL getting raped in America by people like Nat!
After purchasing my $40,000 vehicle I have been treated like sh*t! The sales and new car service dept( run by Claude) are fantastic. The service dept, especially Nat my service rep, is terrible and I will never purchase another Dodge vehicle again! Ford or Nissan are my next options. My brother lives in Bayside and was going to visit the dealership. Now he is looking at Fords and Toyotas. You may personally thank Nat for that loss of sales.
