Went to Meade Dodge to purchase a Dodge Durango advertised in a local paper.
The salesman asked to make a photo copy of my drivers license before even wanting
to talk with me (which I refused until I would test drive the vehicle). Of course
the advertised car was no longer available, so I asked for the same or similar
price on a comparably equipped vehicle. The salesman told me that the sales
manager was "very busy" and could not pull the "file" on
the advertised Durango. When I insisted on talking with the sales manager, the
salesman went into the sales office for several minutes, and returned telling
me that the Sales Manager was again "very busy" and could not meet
with me. When I stated I would stay until closing so the Sales Manager could
meet with me, the Floor Manager was sent to talk with me. The Floor Manager
and asked the salesman if he had "pulled the file yet on the Durango"
to see what the options were (the same file that I was told the Sales Manager
had to 'pull', and was too busy to do so). They left the floor and went into
the sales office, at which time I could observe the salesman, the Sales Manager,
and the Floor Manager all talking for several minutes, constantly looking over
at me (from behind the mirrored glass). When they returned to the floor, the
advertised price was suddenly "$3,000 to $5,000" more, even though
I qualified for the employee discount as stated in the ad! They appeared to
be making up a story as they told me that I had to qualify for "Lease Loyalty"
to purchase a new Durango, even though I wasn't leasing --- I was purchasing
one! The published ad clearly had enough room to explain the details of the
purchase price (over 1" in print). This appeared to be a "Bait and
Switch" tactic (or at least an intentionally misleading ad), so I filed
a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General's office and sent a copy of the
ad.

Sales=Avoid, Service=Avoid,
Definitely Bait and switch tactics, and even switched paperwork on me. The service
was extremely bad, and I believe sabotaged when I complained about the price
of some work that needed to be done (days before picking it up), because coincidentally
then next day, my entire brake system, master cylinder and computer needed to
be replaced (while I was on a trip that I informed the service staff I was going
to be taking). Please note that I bought a car (not the one I wanted) not a
truck.
