All of my experiences with the reliability of my Ram 1500 4x4 have been generally positive- I consider the front suspension system to be a minor sore point but inexpensive to service/repair. The front brake pads I replaced myself (at 42,000 miles) with ease, and the rotors can be replaced easily also- no messing with wheel bearings, etc. I also found that the factory (non-greasable) driveshaft U-joints can be easily and inexpensively replaced by greasable parts-store units- they seem much stronger in quality and were only about $13 each! The factory shocks are absolute JUNK. I replaced mine with Rancho RS 5000 units (at 33,000 miles, $40/each) and am reasonably satisfied. I'm sure better ones are available, though. Anyone looking for good cab space but not an extended cab truck will be happy with a 94-01 Ram. Storage behind the seats is excellent and well thought-out. I love the interior of my regular cab Ram.
