Sales=Fair, Service=Avoid,
I bought a 1999 Dodge Cummins here and the delivery process basically went OK.
I upgraded the truck with a Banks kit and a tranny shifting problem started
occurring. I found a TSB that had a solution for that problem and it was to
reflash the tranny computer. I took the truck in and they said they could not
duplicate the problem. I asked them to please just reflash the tranny computer
anyway. They said they flashed the computer so I picked up the truck and sure
enough the truck had the same problem. I located another dealer in Redwood City
and had them look at the tranny computer and they could tell by the date of
the flash that Fremont Dodge had lied when they told me they had flashed the
computer, they had done nothing. The Redwood City dealer reflashed the computer
and the problem was fixed. A short time later the truck started to stumble going
down the highway I checked it out and found that the lift pump was putting out
0 psi. I had about 25,000 miles on the truck and the pump should have been covered
under warranty. I told them exactly what the problem was when I dropped off
the truck. I called them back to check on the status and they said "the mechanic
can't find this lift pump that you are talking about". I explained to them that
there was a pressure gauge duct taped on the windshield and they should follow
that hose down to the fuel filter holder and right next to that is the lift
pump. She said the mechanic saw the gauge put it's a vacuum gauge. I had to
explain to her that the left side of the gauge is for vacuum and the right side
is PSI. They said they would not check the pressure, they would have to know
what the symptom was…after talking to the manager he agreed to replace the pump
under warranty if they verified the pressure was not in spec. When I called
them later they said they could replace the pump for $600.00 and it was not
covered under warranty. I told them to forget it and they charged me 90.00 for
the privilege of having my fuel pressure checked. The mechanics and service
manager both lied to me. I would not purchase another car here under any circumstances!
